Emily Irene VanCamp who initially was hoping to be professional dancer was drawn in acting after visiting her sister Katie on the set of the film Ladies Room. She started taking acting classes and simultaneously landed guest spots on TV series in her homeland Canada. She was a part of as a guest on several shows in the series Are You afraid Of the Dark? Radio Active and Dice. VanCamp had a career breakthrough when he was cast as the regular Sam Dolan on the WB Horror Mystery show Glory Days. The series was canceled after nine episodes despite receiving positive review from the public. In spite of her May 12th, 1986 birth date she was offered an appearance on Everwood in its cast as Amy Abbott. Her performance resulted in her being nominated as an Young Artist Award nominee and for four Teen Choice Awards.
